Westport has Ireland's third highest Covid incidence rate - with Swinford fourth
The Westport electoral area has the third highest Covid incidence rate in the county, according to the latest Department of Health statistics.
After recording 190 new confirmed cases in the two week period from July 27 to August 9 last, it has a rating of 1033.8 for its population of 18,378.
That's more than double the national average of 422.5.
Only Carndonagh and Buncrana in Co. Donegal have higher rates than Westport.
Swinford has the fourth highest national rating after registering 178 new cases over the past two weeks.
Its incidence rate is 1029.7 for its population of 17,286 - more than double the national average.
Three other electoral area of Mayo - Ballina, Castlebar and Claremorris - are also above the national average of 422.5
A total of 119 new cases were identified in the Ballina area during the 14-day period in question, leaving it with a rating of 473.9 in respect of its population of 25,110.
The Castlebar area had 162 new cases, giving it a rating of 540.1 per 100,000 of its population of 29,992.
Up to 201 new cases were listed in the Claremorris district, giving it a rating of 740.6 for its population of 27,141.
Belmullet remains below the national average after 23 new cases were confirmed.
The Erris area has a rating of 182.5 for its population of 12,600 - one of the lowest in the country.
