Funeral of Mayo man who died in Galway road tragedy
The funeral arrangements have been announced for Patrick Scanlon, The Points, Achill Sound.
The deceased, aged in his 80s, died in a three-car collision at the intersection of the N6 and M17 in Galway on Thursday.
The tragedy has cast a shadow of sorrow and loss across the island community where Patrick was held in such high regard.
He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Rena, daughter Siobhan, son Edward, brother Noel, relatives and friends, to whom heartfelt sympathy is tendered.
His remains will be reposing at Sweeney's Funeral Home, Achill Sound, on Sunday from 4 until 6.30 p.m.
Removal takes on Monday at 10.45 a.m. to the Church of Mary Immaculate, Achill Sound, for Requiem Mass at 11 o'clock.
Burial takes place afterwards in Polranny Cemetery.
