Funding boost for Mayo aquaculture enterprise

Marine Minister Charlie McConalogue has confirmed funding for a Mayo aquaculture enterprise under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund Programme.

The funding will result in a grant of €51,000 being provided to Redrose Development - representing a total invest of €102,000 in the aquaculture enterprise.

The funding will be used for capacity building on their seaweed farm in Belmullet.

Welcoming the announcement, Mayo TD Alan Dillon said: “The funding will be used to build capacity for seaweed farming which will become an increasingly important aquaculture enterprise for our coastal communities.

"I wish Redrose Development every success with their expansion.”
