Oisín Mullin on course to be fit for All-Ireland final

Mayo star Oisín Mullin is on course to be fit to face Kerry or Tyrone in the All-Ireland SFC final at Croke Park on September 11.

The Kilmaine ace was initially expected to be sidelined for up to three months after sustaining a quad tear ahead of the penultimate round clash against Dublin last weekend.

But he has been receiving specialist treatment which, according to informed sources, is proving very successful - and he is now expected to return to training ahead of the decider.

This is a very welcome development for Mayo as Eoghan McLaughlin is ruled out of the final after undergoing surgery on a double jaw fracture sustained in a collision with Dublin's John Small in last Saturday's encounter.

Meanwhile, The Irish Examiner reported today that Mullin is expected to be officially approached by AFL clubs following the county’s All-Ireland SFC final next month.

Interest in the 2020 young footballer of the year has increased despite him being unable to attend an AFL Combine in Australia in April of last year because of the pandemic, the report added.
