Two men arrested in connection with death of woman in Westport

Gardai have arrested two men in connection with the death of a 40-year-old woman in Westport last month.

The suspects, one aged in his 50s and the other in his 30s, are being held at Castlebar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 where they are currently being interviewed.

They can be held for 24 hours without charge.

The arrests came as officers continued their investigation into the death of Sylwia Adamaczyk, a Polish national.

Ms. Adamaczyk was found dead in an apartment on Castlebar Street, Westport, in the early afternoon of July 31.

The details from a post mortem into her death, carried out by a State Pathologist, Dr. Heidi Okkers, has not been released for operational reasons.

The deceased had been working in the local hospitality industry for some time prior to her death.

Investigations are ongoing.
