Sustainable Mayo brand Pure Clothing launches fully circular model
Sustainable clothing retailer, Pure Clothing, has launched a fully circular economy just one year since the business was founded.
As part of their Restore with Pure initiative, customers can return any product that is damaged or has reached the end of its life cycle for a free repair or upcycle.
Pure Clothing, based in Ballina, was founded by Peter Timlin and Richard Grimes in May 2020. The company quickly went viral on the video-posting app Tik Tok showcasing the pair’s journey to setting up the company and their sustainable model. They currently have over 50,000 followers.
Both Peter (20) and Richard (21) are passionate about sustainable fashion and developing solutions to protect the planet.
Pure Clothing is a completely sustainable brand which uses organic cotton and recycled material for its vegan-friendly clothing, which is embroidered by a wind-powered unit in Co. Mayo. Pure Clothing’s packaging is made from recycled materials and printed on with water-based ink.
Peter said: “Circular economies are the most effective solution in making fashion more sustainable. We have teamed up the amazing staff at the Ballina Costume Company to give our customers the power to keep their Pure Clothing products in use for longer through repair and upcycling.”
Richard added: “Our goal at Pure Clothing is to build a stylish and modern clothing brand using sustainable supply chains and eco-friendly materials. Achieving this circular economy is a key element to reaching that goal and continuing to fight fast fashion. Pure Clothing is an Irish-made brand that wants to spread the message that you can be fashionable while also being sustainable.”
As well as the Restore with Pure programme, other initiatives such as planting 1,000 trees in Ireland saw Pure Clothing awarded Best Project in Natural Environment at the Business Spirit Awards. They were also recognised in The Sunday Independent’s Top 30 Under 30 list in 2020. Pure Clothing is also a Pitch 21 finalist, which will see its products available for purchase both in-store and online with Arnotts later this year.
