The Mayo team that faced Tyrone in the group stages of the Nancy Murray Cup. A repeat performance and result would do nicely in the final.

Mayo team named for Nancy Murray Cup final

The first adult Mayo camogie team for a good many years has given supporters a season to remember so far but a win on Sunday in the Nancy Murray Cup final would cap it all.

Management have named the team to take on Tyrone in the final, which will throw in at 5 p.m. on Sunday (August 29) in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Mayo have already played, and beaten, Tyrone en route to the decider. The first game in the group phase was against Donegal and while Mayo had a huge winning margin, Donegal made it a tad harder than the scoreline suggested.

Up next, Tyrone were much tougher opposition in the second game. Like Mayo, Tyrone had recorded a solid victory over Donegal and having acquitted themselves well in the league, again like Mayo, a close affair was anticipated.

That is how it panned out, with Mayo securing victory on a 3-9 to 1-6 scoreline following a committed display from both teams.

It left both teams in the semi-finals, where Tyrone secured a 1-11 to 0-8 victory over Wicklow but Mayo were awarded a walkover after Louth announced they were unable to fulfil the fixture at very late notice.

Sunday's final will be available to watch on the Camogie Association’s YouTube channel.

The Mayo Camogie County Board has congratulated the players, panel, management and backroom members on their great achievement in reaching final, and wishes them the best of luck on Sunday.

The Mayo starting team for the Nancy Murray Cup final is: Aoibheann Crawley; Rachel Lyons, Amy Mulkeen, Grainne Delaney; Shauna Golden, Mairead Charlton, Aoife Doherty; Meabh Delaney, Aine Charlton; Emily Kelly, Ava Lambert, Helen O'Malley; Eleanor Harrison, Lisa Scahill, Ciara Delaney.
