"This CLÁR funding will make an important contribution in getting the projects over the line.”

“The projects will provide and improve safety infrastructure such as footpaths, public lighting, traffic calming measures and car parking facilities. This measure also continues to support projects that help adapt the environs of schools and community facilities to help meet challenges arising from the pandemic."

In a statement, Castlebar Councillor Ger Deere said he is delighted to have received confirmation from his colleague Alan Dillon that over €90,000 in Clár funding has been awarded to two communities in the Castlebar Municipal Area, Parke/Crimlin/Keelogues GAA Club, Parke NS and the Belcarra community.

He stated: "Well done to these two great communities and to Ann Sweeney of Mayo County Council and her staff for preparing these successful applications.

"I look forward to continue working and supporting both areas in completing these and future projects.
