Michelin Star award for Mayo chef in Singapore

A MAYO chef is celebrating after picking up his first ever Michelin Star award.

Breaffy man Andrew Walsh was awarded a Michelin Star for his restaurant in Singapore, CURE.

Andrew has worked hard towards this prestigious award having been in Singapore for the last 10 years, opening his first restaurant, CURE, six years ago, and subsequently Butcher Boy, Catfish and his latest venture, Club Street Wine Room, this year.

Reflecting on the achievement, he posted the following on CURE's Facebook page earlier today: 'Five years of hard work culminating into this momentous Michelin Star win.

'This is a particularly emotional moment for us, because the last 18 months really tested the industry in the most gruelling ways. Fortunately, by the 'luck of the Irish', I am blessed with a most resilient, dedicated and talented team.

'Despite the pandemic, we introduced two new venues, Catfish and Club Street Wine Room, and consulted for two others. Being away from home also brought me closer to my heritage, turning that longing for familiarity into a new cuisine philosophy - Nua Irish Cuisine - at CURE.

'To my amazing brigade at CURE Concepts, thank you for being a source of inspiration to me every day. When I look back at what we have achieved so far, I know this is just the beginning. Because there is no stopping this team now.

'And to our customers and partners through the years, this Michelin win would not have been possible without your relentless support. Thank you for all your love, and we look forward to celebrating with you at CURE soon.' - Andrew Walsh, founder of CURE Concepts and chef-owner at CURE.
