Mayo visual artists to host exhibition, 'Intricate Waves'

An exhibition by Claremorris Visual Arts Community (CVAC) is set to be staged at Claremorris Town Hall Theatre Gallery.

The official opening will be on Friday, September 10, from 7 to 9 p.m.

It will be performed by Mr. John Kirrane.

CVAC members Ann Warde, Anna O Dixon, Christine Lynn, Marie Kenna and Norah Brennan have been working on the theme of “Intricate Weaves” since 2019.

The exhibition was completed in 2020 but Covid restrictions and lockdowns prevented it from going on public display until now.

After a two month stay at the Tuar Árd Art Centre in Moate the artists are delighted to bring it home to Claremorris to be seen by the local community before it travels to Áras Gluaire, Belmullet, in 2022.

Each member of the collective works independently and brings their own interpretation of the theme to this exhibition.

Printmaking, mosaic, painting, drawing and textile feature in the show.

The exhibition will be open free of charge to the public on Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, September 12, from noon to 4 p.m.

Members of CVAC will be present over the weekend to talk about their work.
