Long queues of traffic outside Mayo Covid test centre
Long queues of traffic have been forming outside the Covid test centre at McHale Road in Castlebar today.
It reflects a higher than usual demand for tests at the facility.
However, it has led to problems for residents getting to and from their homes by car while concerns have also been raised over what would happen in the event of an emergency at the location.
Philip Redmond, chairman of the McHale Road Residents Association, told Midwest News that today's traffic is the worst so far since the start of the pandemic and the situation needed to be addressed.
Councillor Michael Kilcoyne told The Connaught Telegraph he had been sent a video of the situation and it is a matter of some concern.
"We need a traffic plan for the location to ensure the residents are not inconvenienced during busy times," he said.
