An inquest is to be conducted in Castlebar into the death of 67-year-old Brendan Kilduff, Sallyhernane, Knock, who died from gunshot wounds he received almost two years ago.

Mr. Kilduff had been visiting a house in the Aghamore area when he sustained gunshot wounds which proved fatal.

A man was arrested in connection with the death but later released.

Subsequently a file on the matter was considered by the DPP.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, an inquest into the death will begin at Castlebar Courthouse.

It will be conducted by the Coroner for Mayo, Pat O’Connor.

The hearing is expected to last a number of days.

One of the witnesses, a State Pathologist, will give evidence via a video link from Dublin.
