Warning after rubbish including glass is dumped on Mayo beach

A SAFETY warning has been issued by a north Mayo surf school to users of a local beach after rubbish, including glass, was dumped there.

Tonn Nua Surf School highlighted the incident, which occurred on Elly beach, on their social media.

They explained: 'Someone decided to dump seven big bags of glass bottles, glass jars, drink cans, food tins and other random bits at Elly beach last night (Tuesday).

'All the contents of the bags could have easily and at no cost been brought to a bottle bank 1km up the road.

'We picked up a lot of glass but there is still a lot left. Please be very careful walking around the entrance to the dunes and along the rocks as there is still a lot of broken glass around.

'The disregard for people's safety and disrespect for this beautiful area by some people amazes me.'
