Traffic issues on roadway leading to popular Mayo lake

TRAFFIC concerns on the Creagh Road in Ballinrobe have been highlighted by Councillor Michael Burke.

The road leads to the local lake, which is very busy, and there have been a lot of complaints about speeding.

Some drastic action will have to be taken, he told a local municipal district meeting. He has asked the gardaí to conduct speed checks.

Two or three pets have been killed and it could have been a child.

He asked the council to discuss the matter with the garda authorities to see how it can be made safer.

Councillor Damien Ryan said traffic calming was put in before but it wasn't effective.

Senior engineer Conrad Harley said a traffic survey needs to be done on the road to try and get funding to solve any issues.

Contact would be made with the gardaí to discuss the concerns.
