Mayo gardaí probing post-All-Ireland final burglary incidents by gang

Gardaí in Mayo are investigating two incidents of burglary in the county in the hours shortly after the All-Ireland SFC final on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at a house and business property at Derrada, Partry, between 8.30 and 10 p.m. on Saturday last.

A gang, believed to consist of three people, cut the telephone wires and removed security alarm boxes at the property before breaking in and stealing a sum of cash.

Gardaí also received a report at around 10.30 p.m. on Saturday of an attempted burglary at the residence in Cloghan's Hill on the Mayo/Galway border.

Telephone wires were also cut and security alarm boxed removed at the location.

But the gang did not enter the house after making a quick get-away following a call made to the gardaí and the arrival at the scene by car of a relative of the home owner.

Gardaí are concerned by the incidents and have made an appeal for information that may help them with their investigation.

If anybody saw suspicious a vehicle in the Partry or Cloghan's Hill area on Saturday evening or night last they should contact their local garda station or the garda confidential line.
