Rugby legend's charity walk to reach Mayo today

RUGBY legend Rory Best's Miles2Mayo walk will reach County Mayo today.

Rory set out on day 7 of his epic charity walk from Sligo this morning, tweeting: 'On to Mayo today'.

Rory is expected to be in Charlestown in late afternoon where the community are set to come out and welcome him.

Tomorrow's leg of his 180-mile walk will see him go from Charlestown, via Culmore, Bohola and Ballyvary, to Castlebar, before setting out on day nine for Cong - home of a proposed new therapeutic centre for children suffering from cancer.

The former Ulster, Ireland, British and Irish Lions captain took on the walking challenge to support Cancer Fund for Children, raising funds for their new short break centre, Daisy Lodge, to be based in Cong. The centre, which will be the charity's second, allows families to spend quality time together in a safe and nurturing environment, far removed from hospital wards and treatment regimes.
