West TD resigns from Fianna Fáil to vote 'no confidence' in Minister Coveney

Sligo Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry has resigned from the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.

He did so in order to vote no confidence in Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney.

Dáil Éireann will vote on a confidence motion in Minister Coveney this evening following a debate

Sinn Féin tabled the motion over what it described as 'a lack of transparency around the appointment of former minister Katherine Zappone to the position of UN Special Envoy last July'.
