Three Mayo districts have Covid incidence rates above national average

Three districts of Mayo have Covid 14-day incidence rates higher than the national average of 413.2, according to the latest public heath report for the period covering August 31 to September 13.

Ballina has the highest rating in the county of 613.3 per 100,000 of its population of 25,110 after recording 154 new cases during the period in question.

Swinford's rating has dropped from 798.8 to 601.6 during the two-week spell, the number of new cases falling from 136 to 104.

The Castlebar district also has a rating above the national average, standing on 456.8 after registering 137 new cases since August 31 - 29 more than the previous two-week period.

Claremorris and Belmullet both have ratings of 412.7, the former having 112 new cases and the Erris district 52.

The Westport area has the lowest rating of 348.2, having confirmed 64 new cases.

The county had a collective total of 623 new cases over the past two weeks.
