Crossmolina and Mayo mourn passing of Edie Loftus

THE death has occurred of Crossmolina woman Edith (Edie) Loftus, widow of former GAA president Dr. Mickey Loftus.

Edie was predeceased by her husband in April.

Two years ago the couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Edie, whose maiden name was Munnelly, passed away peacefully in the Moy Ridge Nursing Home, Ballina, yesterday (Friday), surrounded by her loving family.

She is deeply mourned by her loving children Michael, Orla, Patrick and Dr. Joe, daughter-in-law Dr. Eleanor, Monica and Jordan, son-in-law Donal, her 10 grandchildren Rosanna, Mikey, Patrick, Kevin, Claire, Dr. Katie, Joe, Sam, McKenzie and Ben, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, her extended family, neighbours and friends.

Remains will repose at Edie’s residence in Mullenmore North, Crossmolina, tomorrow (Sunday) from 2 to 8 p.m.

Burial on Monday in Crossmolina Cemetery following requiem Mass in St. Tiernan’s Church at midday.
