Kelly’s Butchers reach finals of Energia Family Awards

KELLY’S Butchers have been announced as finalists in the Food and Drink Producer category of the Energia Family Awards 2021.

The family butchers celebrated 80 years in business last year and is a regular award winner on the national and international stage.

This particular award recognises consistency of quality of produce and the achievements of the business. The theme of the Energia Awards is of ‘Resilience through generations’ which matches Kelly’s of Newport perfectly.

“Keeping our standards high in every way is very important to us,” said Seán Kelly of Kelly’s Butchers. “Reaching the final stages of the Energia Family Awards is a testament to the huge effort our whole team has put in over the last couple of challenging years.”.

The judging panel took many different aspects of the business into consideration including the products themselves, looking for exemplary taste and flavour. They also looked at customer feedback and testimonials, innovation and quality.

Additionally, community involvement an element and one which is very important to the Kelly family who are very proud of their hometown, Newport.

Previous achievements were taken into consideration and Kelly’s have many to choose from including Seán Kelly receiving a knighthood from a visiting French contingent some years ago.

This year it will be a virtual ceremony, beginning on October 18. The ceremony will honour the businesses who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and resilience throughout the Covid-19 pandemic while continuing to thrive and grow.
