Review of Mayo’s All Ireland final defeat to take place in two weeks

A full review of Mayo’s All-Ireland SFC final loss to Tyrone will take place between Mayo’s senior coaching staff and the senior officers of the Mayo GAA County Board in the next fortnight, writes Stuart Tynan.

A review process will also take place on Mayo’s performances at Under 17 and Under 20 level as well as the senior hurling team.

Speaking at tonight’s meeting of the Mayo GAA County Board, Mayo GAA chairperson Liam Moffatt said the performance in the final was “disappointing and was not at the level Mayo can produce. The players and management know this.”

Mr. Moffatt added that “internal reviews and actions are underway with the coaching team to ensure there are learnings taken from the season” and went on to commend all involved in the huge commitment put in given the challenges of the pandemic.

Mayo GAA secretary Dermot Butler said clubs will be offered the opportunity to put forward questions for the review.
