Achill distillery releases Founder's Reserve 19-year-old single malt
IrishAmerican Trading Company released their third whiskey to market this week - a 19-year-old single malt, Founder’s Reserve cask strength, carefully selected by its founder, the late John McKay.
His vision, dream and legacy is embodied in this rare premium series.
Each bottle is labelled with John’s signature of approval. Gently matured for 19 years in Jamaican rum casks and crafted in small batches for a deep, rich flavour, citrus undertones that have mellowed over time with a fresh aroma make for a rare, remarkable smooth single malt long finish.
This cask strength whiskey is pouring at 54%, bouncing with aroma and flavour.
IrishAmerican Trading Company is one of few Irish owned and family run whiskey companies in Ireland. The company is currently run by John’s two sons, Michael and Sean McKay.
John launched Achill Island Distillery in 2019, Ireland’s first island distillery, and the home of IrishAmerican whiskey. The distillery has been producing Irish whiskey since late 2019 and opened to visitors and tours in 2020 - Achill Island Distillery and Visitors Centre is open for tours from April to September.
IrishAmerican Trading Company have two award-winning whiskeys to market - the IrishAmerican Classic Blend and the IrishAmerican 10-year Single Malt - and both have received global recognition.
The 19-year single malt cask strength Founder’s Reserve was one of the last projects John worked on with his sons. As he battled his illness he was creating labels, tasting and envisioning what this product would look like once it came to the shelf. He wanted it to ooze luxury and portray traditional top shelf qualities.
