Mayo councillors up in arms over investment oversight
THE publication of the largest ever National Development Plan in the history of the State today has been met with disappointment in Mayo.
“We are the forgotten county again,” Councillor Michael Loftus told a meeting of Mayo County Council Monday afternoon.
To say the plan was disappointing was an 'understatement', though there was some good news for his area with the Crossmolina flood relief scheme.
But, he said, the county is not getting his fair share.
His comments were in support of his colleague Councillor Annie May Reape who noted that there wasn't a thing for the west of Ireland or projects in her area, like the Ballina orbital route.
It was a most 'deplorable' state of affairs and the anger is only starting, she warned.
