Latest number of Mayo people receiving PUP is revealed

The number of Mayo people on PUP has dropped by a further 95 this week to 2,165.

That's a significant drop from the 13,150 receiving the payment in the county on February 9 last, although it was as high as 16,371 in May 2, 2020.

The number of Mayo people who have been medically certified for receipt of Enhanced Illness Benefit due to Covid-related illness this week is 5,066.

Nationally, the Department of Social Protection has this week issued weekly payments valued at €26.3 million to 101,470 people in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP).

This represents a fall of 4,775 compared to last week.

The greatest reduction this week is in the Accommodation and Food Services sector.

The PUP figures published this week are in addition to the 179,761 people who were on the Live Register at the end of August.

All Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payments have been paid into recipients’ bank accounts or at their Post Office this week.
