Clean sheet for Mayo's Conor Walsh in Euro Under 17 qualifier

Mayo's Conor Walsh started in Ireland's UEFA Under 17 European Championship qualifier against Andorra this evening.

The former Westport United player, now with Sligo Rovers, was between the posts as the Irish ran out comfortable 5-0 winners against Andorra in Turner's Cross, Cork.

His fellow Westport native Daniel Kelly, also currently with Sligo Rovers and likewise a former Westport United player, started on the bench for Ireland.

On the scoresheet were Justin Ferizaj, Mark O’Mahony, Kevin Zefi, Sam Curtis and Rocco Vata.

Turner's Cross will again be the venue for Ireland's next two qualifiers, which will be played on Sunday (October 10) against North Macedonia at 7 p.m. and Wednesday (October 13) against Poland at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, another Sligo Rovers goalkeeper who hails from Mayo, Luke McNicholas, has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad for their forthcoming European Championship qualifier with Montenegro. Jim Crawford’s side will be in action in Podgorica on Tuesday (October 12).

McNicholas, a former Manulla player, is on currently on loan at Cliftonville from the Bit o' Red.
