Latest statistics show two Mayo districts facing Covid battles

The latest statistics have revealed the 14-day Covid incidence rate in two electoral areas of Mayo is above the national average of 394.2 for the period from September 28 to October 11.

Swinford's rating is the highest, standing on 433.9 after recording 75 new cases while Castlebar is on 406.8, having registered the most number of new cases (122) during the period in question.

The Claremorris rating is 265.3, a total of 72 new cases being recorded there.

Ballina has a rating of 242.9 after 61 new cases were identified in the district.

Up to 33 new cases were confirmed in the Westport area, leaving it with a rating of 179.6.

Belmullet has the lowest rating of 103.3 after 13 new cases were identified in the Erris area.
