Biodiversity project completed at Mayo lakeside thanks to top gardener's generosity

The dedicated volunteers of Castlebar Community Clean Up have teamed up with expert gardener Padraic Horkan and over 60 children and their parents to plant over 2,000 bulbs at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar.

What a wonderful day for all involved and the community.

This biodiversity project will be in full bloom next February, March and April.

Months of preparation were invested by volunteers at the beautiful lakeside location.

Councillor Blackie Gavin said he was very proud of everybody involved in the initiative and thanked Padraic Horkan and Horkan's Garden Centre for their generosity and assistance.

The footage was captured by Michael Brophy, one of the founders of Castlebar Community Clean-Up which has taken Lough Lannagh to its heart.
