Additional works to be carried out on MacHale Park

A number of works and repairs are to be carried out before the return of matches to Hastings Insurance Brokers MacHale Park next year.

An update on the stadium infrastructure was given to delegates at last week’s Mayo GAA County Board meeting. The pitch is currently closed due to the recent pitch resurfacing, with Mayo GAA chairman Liam Mofatt saying that the new surface is developing well and grass is emerging well across the entire pitch.

Additional works to be carried in the stadium include the electrical refitting of the main stand (to be carried out by Electric Skyline), electrical and gas heating maintenance, removal of rust on handrails, and creating aisles on the terraces.

The County Board is also awaiting the receipt of tenders for repairs to the press tower roof, and the costs for the works needed.

It is expected that MacHale Park will be ready to host games in May 2022.
