Ten new defibrillators for Achill area

COMHLACHT Forbartha Áitiúil Acla have presented the Achill AED Group with 10 new defibrillators for the Achill area.

Following CFÁA and the Achill AED Group’s successful fundraising collaboration project, Defibrillators for Achill Area Fundraiser, and with the help of Southwest Mayo Development Company, local councillors, National Lottery funding, the support of the local community and the kindness of strangers through GoFundMe, funding for 10 new and much-needed defibrillators was achieved.

Since this fundraiser began in March, the enthusiasm, support and kindness shown towards the project has been phenomenal and both CFÁA and the Achill AED Group would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who was involved and contributed to this initiative.

The new defibrillators were officially handed over by Majella Uí Ghallachobhair (chairperson) on behalf of CFÁA to Dr. Noreen Lineen Curtis (head of the Achill AED Group) on Monday at gteic@Acaill.

Also in attendance were Norita Clesham (project officer from Southwest Mayo Development Company), Councillor Paul McNamara, Tony McGinty (Achill AED Group) and, from CFÁA, Terence Dever, Irene Gielty, Kenneth Deery, Carol Ann McNulty, Kiaran Sweeney, John Conway, Emmet Callaghan, Elaine Connaghan and Caragh McGinty.
