Mayo's Covid hospitalisation figures now among highest in country

Twenty-five confirmed Covid cases are in care at Mayo University Hospital today.

It's the ninth highest total in the county, according to statistics recorded at the Castlebar facility at 8 p.m. yesterday.

Mayo's hospitalisation statistics have risen sharply over the past month and are now looking particularly worrying when compared to the situation on October 9 last when just three patients were in care there due to the coronavirus.

Adding to concerns in respect of Mayo University Hospital is the fact there are no available general or ICU beds at the centre today.

St. James's Hospital, Dublin, has the most Covid patients receiving medical treatment in the country - 44.

Galway University Hospital has 32 cases while Sligo University Hospital has 11.

Nationally, there are 366 hospitalised cases.
