Arts centres reunite for Mayo Artists Show 2021

FOLLOWING almost two years of lockdowns and restrictions, the Linenhall Arts Centre and Ballina Arts Centre are thrilled to join forces once again as they prepare to celebrate the depth and breadth of visual arts talent in Co. Mayo.

This biannual show presents a cornucopia of work in all manner of media.

The 2021 exhibition will be selected and curated by Eamonn Maxwell, who has worked as a curator and advisor in the visual arts for over 20 years. Maxwell is the collection advisor to the Arts Council of Ireland, Goldsmiths and various private art collectors.

As per previous Mayo Artists’ Shows, it takes place across both venues with submissions in 2021 now open to all artists over the age of 18, either from or living in Mayo.

Increased interest in the show is anticipated this year, as artists have been busy creating and developing work at home during multiple lockdowns.

“We never fail to be amazed by the talent in the county and feel it’s more important than ever to continue celebrating and supporting artists,” enthused Linenhall director Bernadette Greenan. “It’s always a joy to work with Sean and the team in Ballina, and particularly so after the many prolonged closures in both venues.”

A maximum of two works per artist will be accepted by either arts centre, from Saturday, November 20, to Wednesday, November 24, with a €5 submission fee per piece. Selected work will be spread across the two venues as decided by the curator, regardless of where the work was accepted.
