Further Mayo motorway building concerns raised by residents

Residents of the Balloor area of Castlebar are having difficulties contacting the developers of the new N5 motorway in order to address a number of issues at the location.

Councillor Cyril Burke said there are problems in regard to fencing and other matters that need addressing.

Councillor Michael Kilcoyne said if the council withheld payments to the contractor, they would take notice.

Councillor Donna Sheridan proposed inviting a representative from BAM Wills JV to attend the December meeting of Castlebar Municipal District in order to respond to questions.

Iarla Moran, director of services, said the contractors are not obliged to attend council meetings but a representative from the roads design office would be in a position to respond to various queries.

Concerns have previous been raised about building works by residents of Breaffy Road and Keelogues in Castlebar.
