Growing Covid concerns for Mayo's highest populated districts

The Westport electoral area still has the highest Covid 14-day incidence rate in Mayo for the period from November 9 to 22 last.

A total of 282 new cases were confirmed in the district, leaving it with a rate of 1534.4 in respect of its population of 18,378.

That's significantly above the national average of 1268.4

The Castlebar district had the most cases - 416 - during the period.

Its rate jumped to 1387 per 100,000 of its population of 29,992.

The rate in Claremorris is 1271.1 in respect of its population of 27,141.

It recorded 345 new cases during the past two weeks.

The Ballina electoral area has a rate of 1214.7 per 100k of its population of 25,110, having seen 305 new cases.

Swinford's rate is now 1191.7 after 206 new cases being identified in the area.

The rate in the Erris area is still one of the lowest in the country at 468.3 after reporting 59 new cases.

A total of 1,613 new cases were confirmed in Mayo over the past two weeks.
