Heroes and heroines on frontline in our hospitals

By Auld Stock

THE frontline workers in our hospitals have given outstanding service to those under their care since Covid-19 hit our country. In most cases they work under the most difficult circumstances.

Hospital staff are the real heroes and heroines in 21st century Ireland.

Yet many of those brave people have been insulted and assaulted by members of the public, they have been spat at and are the recipients of the most vile insults.

This is shocking behaviour by a minority of our Irish public.

Their outrageous conduct is blackguardism of the worst kind and goes against all that is good in our people.

The staff in A&E are working under intense pressure but their reassuring smiles, patience and good manners put all under their care at ease.

They are indeed ministering angels.

Those who assault frontline workers in our hospitals have no place in Irish society and deserve to be punished for their outrageous behaviour.

Hospital staff have enough to put up without getting personal insults and physical assaults from people who should no better.

It is time to put an end to this type of blackguardism.
