GMIT and Soroptimists support campaign to eliminate violence against women

GMIT president Dr. Orla Flynn, staff, students and members of the local Soroptimists Club in Castlebar attended a flag-raising ceremony on campus marking International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The event at the Mayo campus also marked the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign which concludes on Human Rights Day (December 10).

Soroptimist International runs the 'Orange the World' campaign using the unifying colour throughout its activities to symbolise a brighter future, free from violence against women and girls.
