Family head shave for Louisburgh Order of Malta

MEMBERS of a Mayo family are getting their heads shaved this weekend as a 'thank you' to Louisburgh Order of Malta.

Maureen O'Grady Forde, together with her son Matthew and sister Yvonne Corrigan (Ballintubber Store), along with friends Martin McGreal and Colm Clarke, are to shave their heads for Louisburgh Order Of Malta on Saturday night next, December 11. The event takes place in Joe Mac's bar, Louisburgh.

In January this year Maureen was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Together with family and friends she hopes to raise much needed funds for Louisburgh Order Of Malta who were first on hand to help and have been a wonderful support to Maureen's family during 2021.

Louisburgh Order of Malta was set up in 1998 as a back-up to the HSE Ambulance Service. It is on call 24/7 covering the area from Murrisk to Thallabawn to Bundoragh. It is a fully equipped ambulance, manned on all calls by EMTs, and it responds to approximately 95 emergency calls each year.

Louisburgh Order of Malta has 32 active members and it also covers local events such as charity runs, GAA matches, etc., and provides first aid courses.
