Mayo farmers set to receive over €3m. in funding

A Mayo TD has welcomed confirmation of the commencement of payments to Mayo farmers under the Beef Sector Efficiency Programme (BEEP-S) and Dairy-Beef Scheme.

The funding is worth €3,075,378 and €55,420 to Mayo farmers under each scheme respectfully. Over €3million will be paid in respect of 2,475 herds in Mayo for Beef Sector Efficiency Programme (BEEP-S).

Just over €55,000 will issue in respect of 181 herds under the Dairy-Beef Scheme.

Deputy Alan Dillon said: “I was delighted to receive confirmation from Agriculture Minister, Charlie McConalogue TD, that payments have now commenced under Beef Environmental Efficiency Programme – Sucklers (BEEP-S) and Dairy-Beef, building on the range of support schemes available for beef farmers. Over €3.1million will issue to Mayo farmers commencing from today.

“An important part of the BEEP-S scheme is that it helps to increase economic and environmental efficiency in the suckler herd.

"It does so through improvement in the quantity and quality of performance data collected, with a view to supporting the adoption of best practice and more informed decision making at farm level.

"In addition, the Dairy-Beef Scheme helps to increase the economic and environmental efficiency of beef from the dairy herd, and to facilitate further the integration of the dairy and beef sectors.”
