Death of widely respected Islandeady farmer

The death has occurred suddenly at his home of Thomas Clarke (better known as Tommy), Cloggernagh, Islandeady, Castlebar.

Predeceased by his parents Martin and Margaret Clarke, his brother Pat (Australia) and his sister Ann O'Donnell (Cloggernagh), he will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen (née Reilly) sisters Mary Feerick (Ballinrobe) and Teresa Donnellan (Galway), his neices and nephews, especially Amy, Sarah and Justin, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, relatives, friends and his neighbours, who were always so helpful to him.

Tommy was a well known and respected farmer. He loved his animals and the land and always enjoyed his visits to Balla Mart.

He looked forward to meeting his friends on a Saturday evening in Johnny McHale's, Castlebar.

The highlight of his year were the holidays spent with Kathleen in Spain, Portugal and further a field, where they listened to and danced to their favourite Country and Western entertainers.

Tommy loved travelling and he and Kathleen visited many countries including Australia.

He tuned in daily to Midwest Radio and enjoyed the jokes and laughs with Paul and Gerry as well as Tommy Marren's show and he never missed the Michael Commins Show, often listening to him late into the night.

Tommy will be sadly missed by his many friends and the people he came into contact with at home and abroad.

Tommy will repose at his home on Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m.

Removal from his home on Wednesday to St. Patrick's Church, Islandeady, arriving for Funeral Mass at 2 p.m.

Afterwards Tommy will be laid to rest with his parents in Islandeady Cemetery.
