New BIGbin waste disposal option available in south Mayo

A NEW option for waste disposal is now operational in south Mayo.

BIGbin have recently installed two bins for rubbish disposal at Top Oil/Mace on the Castlebar Road in Ballinrobe.

BIGbin is a pay as you go waste disposal service with locations across Ireland. Members of the public can come along to the new location and dispose of two standard black bags of rubbish for €8 and two bags of recycling for €5.

If you need to get rid of more bags, all you have to do is buy more tickets, which are available in the Mace shop or via an online account, which can be created at bigbin.ie.

CEO Ciaran Cotter said: “We’re delighted to be able to provide one of our BIGbins to the people of Ballinrobe and we’re sure that it will be as useful for them as it has been for those in Limerick, Dublin, Sligo, Galway, and a host of other locations around the country.

“BIGbin is great for those occasions when you have more rubbish than usual, either because of a special event or maybe you missed a bin collection. You have the power to dispose of the rubbish when it suits you - there’s no contract and no obligation.

“It’s also proving to be a great tool in the ongoing fight against illegal dumping which was highlighted again recently by Fine Gael Councillor Ger Deere who expressed his disappointment that the level of illegal dumping in Mayo is increasing despite all efforts and education around this whole area.

“BIGbin is a cost-effective solution to the scourge of illegal dumping.”

What people are finding most useful about BIGbin is its convenience - it’s open seven days a week, from 6.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m at the weekend.

BIGbin is ideal for when you need to get rid of extra bags of rubbish. Maybe you missed your bin collection or are doing a bit of clear out. It’s also perfect for people who don't produce enough waste to have a regular bin collection service or if there’s none available in your area.
