Video premiere this evening for Mayo singer's ‘Christmas Wish’

MAYO'S Cathal Gavin has released a new Christmas single.

'Christmas Wish' is a contemporary pop single that captures what Christmas is really all about.

Following on from the phenomenal success of his debut single, ‘Forever Young’, released in July, Cathal has worked with an incredible team to reimagine while paying homage to an iconic hit ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’, made famous by the New Seekers (1971).

This evening (Thursday) at 8 p.m. the video for 'Christmas Wish' will premiere on all social media and it will really reasonate with Mayo audiences, filmed in Westport House and at the estate's Christmas Wonderland and on the streets of Westport.

Cathal (19) has performed extensively across Ireland and various other countries since the release of his eight-track album Voice of An Angel in 2015, at age 13, which sold out after only four months of sales, with proceeds donated to a local alzheimer’s charity.

Since then he has sung at countless high profile events, including the Irish Oireachtas, Operation Smile Ireland and most notably World Youth Day in Panama City, Central America, to over 250,000 people, making Cathal the third Irish and youngest ever to achieve this.

Cathal went on to produce his own Christmas concert (pre-Covid), which sold-out, and was set to perform in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia until Covid resulted in postonement.

Said Cathal on his latest venture: “I’m so excited to release my Christmas single, ‘Christmas Wish’.

“We have worked hard carefully writing new original lyrics around the famous chorus’ and melody of ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’. We have transformed this incredible piece of music into an upbeat Christmas pop song with magical lyrics to capture the Christmas spirit of all generations.

“I hope you all enjoy it!”
