Passing of retired Mayo businessman Sean Bourke
The death has taken place of Sean Bourke, Hawthorn Avenue, Lightford, Castlebar, and late of Carrowskeheen, Lahardane.
He was widely known and popular in Mayo business circles, having operated petrol service stations at Newline/New Antrim Street (Lone Star) and Humbert Way (now Corrib Oil) in Castlebar for many years.
Sean started out in the trade with the former Josie Bourke's Garage at Ellison Street in the county town.
Warm tributes have been paid to him on the condolences page of the death notices website, RIP.ie.
One described him as 'a wonderful, charming and charismatic man'.
Another stated: "He always had a smile and a kind word to say."
Predeceased by his sisters Angela, Laura, Teresa and brother PJ, he is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, daughters Sacha and Karen, son-in-law Marty McNicholas and Karen’s partner Simon O’Malley, sister Emily Gillespie (Castlebar), nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand -nieces, great grand-nephews and great grand-nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is extended.
Reposing at his residence on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. with removal on Sunday (via Corrib Oil filling station) at 12.45 p.m. for Requiem Mass at 1.30 p.m. in the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Sean will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
