Memorial for volunteers who built first Westport fire station

A PLAQUE is to be erected to remember the fire service volunteers who built the first fire station in Westport.

The station was located at Altamount Street in the town and it was constructed through voluntary work by the firemen at the time.

Councillor Christy Hyland wants to see a fitting memorial put in place.

He has requested details of a selected location for the next area district meeting in January.
