No vacant beds at Mayo hospital due to Covid pressures

The number of Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) today has risen to 36.

The pressure caused by the virus has left the facility without any vacant general or ICU beds.

The Castlebar facility's Covid statistics are the seventh highest in the country.

The Mater Hospital, Dublin, has the most Covid patients in care with 57 while Tallaght Hospital has 56, Letterkenny University Hospital 54, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, 51, Drogheda Hospital 50 and University Hospital Limerick 40.

Galway University Hospital has 34 cases and Sligo University Hospital has 15.

Three new cases were admitted to MUH yesterday and there is one suspected case at the centre.

One case is being treated in the facility's intensive care unit.
