Passing of popular Mayo builder and tradesman
The death of Willie Murphy, Ringeraun, Castlebar, and formerly of Knocknageeha, Kilmaine, is widely mourned in the community.
The deceased was held in great regard as a builder and versatile tradesman whose work was of a very high standard, be it carpentry, electrical fittings or plumbing.
He brought his wide range of skills to Africa a number of years ago when he volunteered for the Mellon Educate building blitz initiatives.
Willie was a founder member of the former Tug-O-War Club in Ballyheane.
He was also a keen angler and a member of the local gun club for many years.
Many warm tributes have been paid to him on the condolences page of the death notices website, RIP.ie.
One stated: "His wisdom, skills, patience, craftiness and dedication to work are lost to our world.
"We enjoyed his story telling, humour and laughter. He will be a big addition to the joys of Heaven."
Another said: "Willie was always such a gentleman. So kind and funny. He will be dearly missed in the community for his kindness, willingness to help and be a wonderful neighbour to all around him.
"His passing has a left a huge void."
Predeceased by his parents Margaret and James and his brother Michael, he is deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Mary (Conway), daughter Priscilla, son William, grandchildren Evelyn and Cillian, son-in-law David McDonnell, sisters Mary (Mulhearn), Bridget (Coyne), Anne (O'Brien) and Teresa (Corcoran), brothers Paddy, John, Seamus and Martin.
Willie will also be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Kathleen Conway, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, godfather, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Remains arriving to Ballintubber Abbey on Monday morning for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. with burial afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery.
