Castlebar community mourns death of Bridie Scriney

The death of Bridie Scriney (née Corley), Spencer Street, Castlebar, and formerly of Aughadrina, is deeply mourned in the community.

She died peacefully in the wonderful care of Cuan Chaitriona Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

A member of a widely known and respected local family, she was predeceased by her loving husband Michael, her brothers Michael and Johnny and sisters Peggy Campbell and Mary Durcan.

Bridie is deeply regretted by her loving family: Michael (Dublin), Marian (Dublin), Noel, Paul and Fintan (all Castlebar), sister Kathleen Neary (Ballyheane), grandchildren Michael, Stephen, Aideen, David, Laura, Darragh, Rachael and Annmarie, son-in-law Finbarr, daughters-in-law Chris and Rachel, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Many warm tributes have been paid to her on the condolences page of the death notices website, RIP.ie.

One stated: "What a strong and wonderful woman she was. I have very fond memories of her infectious sense of humour and her very kind heart."

Another described her as "a real lady."

Reposing at the Coady Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:30 until 7 p.m.

Removal on Thursday at 11 a.m. to The Church of The Holy Rosary For Requiem Mass at 11:30 a.m.

Burial takes place afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
