Mayo radio station launches series on Covid's impact on the community

A series of radio programmes is currently being broadcast on Community Radio Castlebar (CFCfm) each evening from 6 to 7 p.m. dealing with the effects of Covid on the local community.

A repeat series will commence on Saturday, January 22, starting at 1 p.m.

Participants in the programmes, drawn from various organisations throughout the county town and surrounding areas, speak about how the pandemic has impacted on them and their groups, as well as in their day-to-day lives.

The programmes include the following themes:

The work of carers.

The impact on voluntary organisations.

Schools and colleges and how they are adapting.

The impact on the arts and artists.

The survival of sport.

How the vulnerable and marginalised are coping.

Business and the challenges into the future.

The changes for those returning to religious services.

How the local authorities have responded.

What we have learned from the experience.

The programmes have been made with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland through the Sound and Vision Scheme.
