Tribute to Ashling Murphy at Castlebar's Market Square

A vigil in honour of Ashling Murphy has been held at Market Square in Castlebar.

A sheet listing the names of the 244 women who have been violently murdered in Ireland since 1996 was on public display. at the event.

The vigil was organised by Christine Green O'Brien Gleeson who told how women feel angry and scared due to the level of violence against women.

Local musician John Hoban performed Úr Chnoc Chéin Mhic Cáinte on the fiddle.

The tune was a favourite of Ashling's, a very talented fiddle player.
