Big boost for Mayo tourism in Irish Independent travel awards 2022

Mayo has featured prominently in the Irish Independent's Reader Travel Awards 2022 announced today.

The Great Western Greenway has been named as the fifth most popular visitor attraction in the country.

The Chill Spa at the Ice House, Ballina, was selected as the second best Spa Experience in the country, bettered only by Monart, Co. Wexford.

Mount Falcon, Ballina, was rated as having the third best outdoor dining experience in the country.

Delphi Adventure Centre was voted seventh in the category for activity providers.

Ashford Castle picked up two awards.

Firstly, it was rated Ireland sixth best hotel experience.

Some of the comments of the readers were: "The amazing service makes you feel like you are royalty. Great food."

It is also listed among the top 10 pet friendly stays, The Twelve, Co. Galway, topping the list.

Keem Bay was chosen as the fourth best beach experience in Ireland.

Achill Island also won an award in 'Ireland's Best Campsite' for 2022 category.

Achill Seal Caves, Dugort, was placed third in the sector behind Wild Atlantic Camp, Co. Donegal, and Hidden Valley, Co. Wicklow.
