Passing of popular Castlebar personality Jody Scully

The death of Jody (Joseph) Scully, 40 McHale Road, Castlebar, is deeply mourned in the community.

The deceased was retired member of the staff of Bank of Ireland, Castlebar, where he was held in high regard by his colleagues as a sincere and unassuming personality.

A member of an old and respected local family, many warm tributes have been paid to him on the condolences page of the death notices website RIP.ie.

"A great Castlebar man, a very gentle person, always a pleasure to meet," one tribute stated.

Another said: "A lovely, quiet man with a winning smile. May he rest in peace."

Castlebar Mitchels posted a tribute to him on the club's social media platforms, expressing deep sadness to learn of his passing.

Jody is deeply regretted by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie, sons Peter, Paraic, Joe, Eddie, Dave, John and Frank, sister Breege Mullins (Carrickmacross), daughters-in-law Lynda, Paula, Sinead, Deirdre (Foy), Deirdre (Heneghan), Noreen and Amanda, sister-in-law, Angela Gormley, grandchildren, Ethan, Laura, Ava, Kevin, Conall, Catherine, Beth, Joseph, Emily, Oran, Katie, Shane, Megan, Emma and Zoe, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Jody was predeceased by his daughter Joanne, his parents Peter and Elizabeth, brothers Kevin, Paddy, John, Pete and Frank, and sisters Teresa and Josephine.

Remains will be reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to his residence in McHale Road.

Removal from his residence on Monday morning at 10.30 a.m. (via Spencer Street) for Funeral Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Jody will be laid to rest afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
