Woodie’s launch Budding Gardeners competition
WOODIE’S have announced the return of their children’s gardening competition, Budding Gardeners, and things are bigger and better than ever this year as they call on schools and families around Ireland to get gardening in 2022.
Last year, Eric Moore (9) from Castlebar was the envy of his schoolfriends when he impressed judge Brian Burke with his gardening skills to win the inaugural year of the competition.
Now, with three new tasks designed by Woodie’s gardening expert Brian Burke to be completed over the coming months, Budding Gardeners is encouraging children to spend time in the outdoors cultivating a hobby that will stay with them for life!
Maybe you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to spend more time outside with the kids, or maybe you’re a teacher who is looking for an exciting new project for your students to take part in. Whatever the case may be, Woodie’s want you to get involved.
Enter as a class, a family or individual child and take on the three set tasks to be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes. Complete all three tasks and you could be walking away with the grand prize of €2,500 cash to spend on a garden makeover for your school.
Getting involved couldn’t be simpler with registration now live on https://www.woodies.ie/budding-gardeners. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to flex those green fingers, dig out the gardening tools and get planting!
Participants will be given three tasks to get working on in the garden. There are great prizes to be won including a trip for your class at school to Bloom, a gardening workshop with judge Brian Burke for your class, or a school tour worth €1,000. By completing all three tasks, you will be in with a chance of winning the grand prize of a €2,500 garden makeover for your school.
Along the way, Brian will be providing plenty of inspiration on Woodie’s Instagram @woodies_ireland with his helpful and easy-to-follow tutorials. You can track your Budding Gardener’s progress by logging on to woodies.ie and uploading to their profile. Further details and all terms and conditions can be found on woodies.ie/budding-gardeners.
Woodie’s judge and gardening expert Brian Burke said: “I’m very excited that Budding Gardeners is back for a second year and will be even bigger and better than ever this year as schools and families around Ireland get involved. While there are three tasks to be completed, this is also a chance to have lots of fun and really let your personality shine through in your work.
“Don’t be afraid to get inventive in the garden - maybe you think the plant pots need an extra splash of paint to really come to life or maybe you will plant your seeds or bulbs in a funky pattern. Whatever you do, do what puts a smile on your face and allows you to enjoy being outside in the garden. You will be able to find some helpful videos from me on Woodie’s website and on their social media, so if you’re a bit stuck in the mud or unsure of where to get started, make sure to check those out. And you never know, it might be you who is crowned the overall winner of Budding Gardeners 2022!”
